OTHER\/CINEMA film screenings will continue on Thurday the 24th of May at 6 PM<\/a>. We will watch three great short films on Palestine and Israel, followed by a discussion with Finnish-Palestinian actress Noora Dadu and cosmologist and activist Syksy R\u00e4s\u00e4nen. Kek bakery will be selling food and beverages.<\/p>\n

Women in Sink (2015), by Iris Zaki: In an Arab hair-salon in Israel, the director installs a camera over the washing-basin. As she washes their hair, she converses candidly with the salon’s clients -Arabs and Jews – on Israeli politics, life and love.

Noora Dadu is a Finnish actress who has performed at Ylioppilasteatteri, Ryhm\u00e4teatteri ja Teatteri Takomo. Dadu graduated from the Theater Academy in 2009, won the Veikko Sinisalo Competition in 2006 and received the Young Actress Award from the Actors’ Union in 2015. The daughter of a Palestinian father and a Finnish mother, she wrote and directed the play Minun Palestiinani (My Palestine) in 2016.<\/p>\n

Syksy R\u00e4s\u00e4nen is the chair of ICAHD Finland. As part of his grassroots activism, R\u00e4s\u00e4nen has participated in the reconstruction of Palestinian residential buildings destroyed by Israeli troops and collaborated with the International Solidarity Movement on the occupied West Bank. In 2017, he released the book Israelin Apartheid (Israeli Apartheid), published by Into. He is also a Finnish cosmologist who works as a lecturer in theoretical physics at the University of Helsinki. R\u00e4s\u00e4nen studied theoretical physics at the University of Helsinki in the 1990’s and served as a researcher at the University of Oxford from 2002 to 2005, at the European Organization for Nuclear Research – CERN from 2005 to 2007, at the University of Geneva from 2007 to 2009 and later as a visiting researcher at Annecy’s LAPTh Research Center.<\/p>\n

ICAHD (acronym for Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions) is a human rights organisation focusing on ending Israeli occupation in a manner that is consistent with international law and that guarantees the rights of everyone living in Israel\/Palestine.
