{"id":3471,"date":"2012-09-19T12:26:49","date_gmt":"2012-09-19T09:26:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/icahd.fi\/?p=3471"},"modified":"2012-09-19T12:26:49","modified_gmt":"2012-09-19T09:26:49","slug":"icahd-to-partake-in-un-general-assembly-to-raise-legality-of-prolonged-occupation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.icahd.fi\/en\/icahd-to-partake-in-un-general-assembly-to-raise-legality-of-prolonged-occupation\/","title":{"rendered":"ICAHD to partake in UN General Assembly, to raise legality of prolonged occupation"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 id=\"page-title\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"border: 2px solid black; margin: 4px 6px;\" src=\"http:\/\/icahd.org\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/publication_thumb2\/public\/c17928e7a6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"122\" height=\"176\" \/><\/h1>\n<div>\n<div id=\"block-system-main\">\n<article id=\"node-425\">\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Publication date:\u00a0Tuesday, September 18, 2012<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>ICAHD will partake in the High-level Meeting of the 67th Session of the United Nations General Assembly on the Rule of Law, to take place at the UN Headquarters in New York on 24 September 2012, and call the General Assembly to adopt a Resolution requesting an International Court of Justice Advisory Opinion on the legality of prolonged occupation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is a unique occasion for all Member States, non-governmental organizations and civil society represented at the highest level, to discuss and agree a forward looking agenda on strengthening the rule of law.\u00a0Speaking at the plenary would be the President of the General Assembly, Vuk Jeremi\u0107 (Serbia); UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon; President of the International Court of Justice, Judge Hisashi Owada; President of the Security Council, Peter Wittig (Germany); United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay; Member States and Observers, as well as a representatives of non-governmental organizations. ICAHD will be represented by Co-Director Itay Epshtain, and USA Director Salena Tramel.<\/p>\n<p>The Secretary-General proposes\u00a0in his report that the General Assembly adopt a programme of action for the rule of law, agree to a process to develop clear rule of law goals and adopt other key mechanisms to enhance dialogue on the rule of law.
